Links & online resources
Some essential websites with background info that should be extremely useful in discussions on the Israel/Palestine issue:
  • ELECTRONIC INTIFADA: very useful site overall and especially this section: Historical Myths
  • JEWS FOR JUSTICE: The Origin of the Palestine-Israel Conflict This pamphlet is indispensable. Bring it along and use its quotes from Israeli Prime Ministers at rallies etc.
  • ZNET: the monumental all purpose progressive site with an excellent section with articles and resources on the Middle East including Chomsky, Said, and the best of the Israeli and world press. Background to the Israel-Palestine Crisis in particular should be committed to memory.
  • From an excellent progressive quarterly on the Middle East, MIDDLE EAST REPORT: Palestine, Israel and the Arab-Israeli Conflict A Primer
  • www.haaretzdaily.com
A US national campaign to end the Israeli occupation. Edward Said and other prominent Americans are associated with this campaign. Their web site puts out regular action alerts and tips for activists.
The Israeli human rights group B'Tselem sends out frequent updates on human rights conditions in the territories via their list-serve. B'Tselem has also just issued a report detailing how the territories are being settled and, in effect, annexed to Israel. The summary of this report may be very useful for educational purposes.
  • Between The Lines is a monthly initiative produced and edited by two former editors of News from Within, together with the help of close supporters and writers.
The Alternative Information Center, which reported about the war criminals being awarded medals, contains good investigatory reports on the situation (such as those by Jeff Halper, academic and activist in Israel) as well as links to Adalah and other Arab human rights organizations.
  • Courage To Refuse and the full Refusenik petition.
  • Yesh Gvul ("There is a Limit")
  • Memorial for Shaden Abu-Hijleh
  • RememberShaden.org: www.remembershaden.org has photos, articles, remembrances, and much more information about Shaden Abu-Hijleh, murdered by IDF soldiers in October 2002.
